Seven Mortal Sins: Ecchi with a Helping of Stereotypes

This anime actually pissed me off. First I tried to watch it on Crunchyroll, where in the first few minutes they had all of these really wacky censoring pentagrams and beams of neon pink light screwing everything up. I gave up and tried again on a pirate site. I wish I didn't. I wish I had been driven away by the migraine inducing censorship. But no, I witnessed the horrors of the first episode of this piece of shit show.

The Crunchyroll version of this show is basically unwatchable. I'm all about censoring things, go ahead if it's needed. But to that extent, and with such poor quality, it was horrible. The lighting of everything else also got screwed up because of the censor, so it was like trying to watch a laser light show, except the lasers were pointed directly into your eyes.

Now for the plot. From what I have gathered, it's about Lucifer, the number one angel, falling from grace to her sin of pride. She is then confronted by the Mortal Sins, the top demons in Hell, and then has some sort of curse placed on her requiring her to defeat the in order to remove it. Also, her wings are cut off and she's happy about it. Definitely not the angel we want calling the shots up in Heaven. Lucifer now wants to defeat them, and take over the world I guess? I only watched the first episode, and they weren't very clear about her end goal.

The concept seems really interesting, except all of the fucking ecchi. It's softcore hentai bordering on just... I don't even know, my mind is still struggling to wrap itself around this crap. It would be cool if they didn't have panty shots and boobs every 10-12 seconds. All of the characters have been so sexualized that I'm embarrassed for the people who had to make this. They're all dressed like... actually they're barely even dressed, stuff is coming off constantly, and they're all in these weird and fetishy poses all the time. I wish they didn't fuck up a good thing with this ecchi garbage.

They're all really sexual and it's uncomfortable, but what's worse is that in the first episode, Leviathan starts sexually assaulting Lucifer. Actually, everyone is kinda all over each other all the time. If I wanted to watch hentai, I'd go somewhere else, I don't want it right here on my doorstep for me to innocently check out. I mean... Jesus Christ, what the hell?! I know that they're trying to appeal to a certain, more mature audience with this, but it's just super weird.

They also have a lot of stereotypical tropes. The demon of sloth is on their phone(?) and super lazy, in the dub they sound like a Tumblr girl. The demon of wrath sounds like they have a stick up their ass and is always ready to fight. Leviathan loves Lucifer so much and admires her that she's willing to betray everyone else, for this person who kinda kicked her ass to the curb. And Maria, the little girl in the church.

I have a lot to say about Maria. First of all, she was screaming before the roof even caved in. There was a bit of shaking, but seriously who screams like the world is ending when there are just a few tremors? And then when the stuff caved in, she just stood there, staring up, and screaming. Most people would run, cover their eyes, curl up in a fetal position. They don't just stand there dumbly gazing up. And then, she handles the situation so calmly. Oh yeah, some person attached to a cross obliterated part of the roof, better wipe off their cheek with a handkerchief. No, run for help you dumb hoe. Also, I hate the English dub for Maria's friend, it makes her sound really stupid and like a stereotypical teenage girl.

In summary, it's ecchi, what can you expect? Just looking at the promotional picture you can tell what's heading down the pipe. The plot is interesting, but with all of the mature themes, it's not quite worth it. If you have good tolerance or are interested in that, go for it. If not, I would suggest a different anime, perhaps The Seven Deadly Sins, a series about the seven sins that is actually really good.
