WorldEnd: Sweet with a Bitter Aftertaste

A new simulcast series that has made its way onto Crunchyroll, WorldEnd: What are you doing at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us? has made a powerful impact in its first episode, hell, in the first six minutes. The plot, the setting, and the overall tone of this series are incredible, but the music and animation are key parts in what impressed me in the beginning. It's beautiful and makes a place for itself in the sea of fantasy and tragedy genre anime. Despite knowing how beautiful it is, we can't help but know in the back of our minds that it's not as sweet as we want it to be.

Overlord is now on Crunchyroll

"When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord"

I've been hearing news about Overlord movies coming out soon, or something along that line. I don't know how long they've been working on it, or if it's in preparation of that event, but Overlord is now available on Crunchyroll!

I'm really excited to check it out. I had watched the first episode and found it really cool, but had to sit through all of those ads (boo). So now that it's on Crunchyroll, I can enjoy it ad free, in high definition.

It's set in a game and holds similarities to Sword Art Online, at least as far as how it's set up as a game system. It seems to be a dive system, but it doesn't really go in depth on that aspect. While it is a game, it seems to focus more on the fact that this is Momonga's new life. I've only seen one episode, but I'm so pumped up to watch more. The opening and ending theme songs are also super awesome! Myth&Roid has L.L.L. for the ending, and as a big fan of their work I'm super happy. The opening is also cool.

@Crunchyroll thank you for adding Overlord to the catalog.

Twin Angels BREAK: Well call me crazy but I think it's a knockoff

"Amatsuki Meguru is a girl who innocently aspires to be a hero of justice and the cool Kisaragi Sumire who grew up in the strict Kisaragi household... The two girls who are in their 3rd year of middle school end up getting orders from a mysterious hedgehog named Miruku-chan and turn into Twin Angels in order to fight evil! Meguru is always cheerful but sometimes a bit too forceful. Meanwhile, Sumire isn’t accustomed with being around others. Despite their differences, as they work together, they start opening up to each other."

In essence, Twin Angels Break is a magical girl anime, very similar to Sailor Moon. VERY similar. REALLY REALLY SIMILAR. What the hell, is there even a Tuxedo Mask?! What is happening?!

Himouto! Umaru-chan: The Life of an Otaku

Umaru is a renowned beautiful 16-year-old girl in town, living with her elder brother Taihei. She acts a perfect sister with a kind heart, intelligence, and popularity, who everybody admires. So who would believe how true Umaru is at home? Sleeping, gaming, watching TV, eating junk food, drinking cola… that's almost all she does at home, leaving all the housework to her brother.

When it first came out on 2015, this series was insanely popular, and it's not hard to see why. With all of the action adventure and series with a plot, sometimes people just want something funny and relatable. And one can definitely find that in Himouto! Umaru-chan, the story of the freeloader we all want to be.

Love Rice: I forced myself into a coma just so I didn't have to watch it anymore

"The Harvest Show" is a concert where all of the different grains show off their beauty to everyone watching, and "HarveStars" is the name given to the grains who put on the best performances. In this age of rice acreage reduction policies and Westernization of eating habits, bread has become the most popular grain in Japan, and tables are dominated by "Yeast King," the bread HarveStars. But five new rice students have enrolled at Kokuritsu Inaho Academy, a school on the verge of shutting down, and they form a new group called "Love Rice" that's practicing to beat Yeast King..."

I really hate to be that jerk of a person, I really do. But this show made me question my sanity and my love for anime on the first episode, which is only 5 minutes long, maybe less. I'm not really loving this rice...

Alice & Zoroku: It's All in a Name

As of right now, Part One of Alice & Zoroku has wrapped up, with a special episode with features and highlights and whatnot. I didn't watch the special because it didn't seem interesting to me, so I don't know what it said and if it had any hints to what we can expect in the next part of the series. But I have a theory, along with SOLID EVIDENCE AND LOGIC to support my claim. What on earth can we expect from this booming new series? And what does the difference between '&' and 'to' have to do with anything? Will I ever get back what the sock goblins stole?!

*✰Luluco✰*

Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor: From Scum to Sensei

¨The Alzano Imperial Magic Academy is located in the southern part of the Alzano Empire, and is among most prominent magic schools in the world, where students can learn the highest forms of magic. All those who strive to learn magic dream of studying at this academy, and its students, as well as its teachers, are proud to be a part of its 400-year history. Glenn Radars is a new instructor who has suddenly been appointed to teach part-time at this highly respected academy. The previously unheard-of lessons of this man known as a good-for-nothing bastard are about to begin."

A new simulcast on Crunchyroll, this series seems to be making quite the stir. At first glance it seems like just fanservice and the typical magic school setting, so what could this new series possibly have to offer?

The Daily Life of Crunchyroll Hime

Image result for crunchyroll hime

I finally got around to checking out The Daily Life of Crunchyroll Hime, an exclusive mini-series that Crunchyroll does on their adorable mascot Hime-chan. It's very short, but it's super cute, and the art is very whimsical. It's also pretty cool to see references to various different anime that have been popular over the past year or two. Hime is honestly so cute, and I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing more comics with her featured. She's a cutie, a nerd, and I could probably rave about what a treasure she is for hours on end. And all the pictures of her are so cute. Hime needs to have her own anime!

Wrapping up Shirobako

Image result for shirobakoHello hello, your favorite admin Cat here! Fun fact, did you know that there are only 20 days of school left, including finals? (We have a Monday off towards the end of te month, make sure you mark your calendars)

Generally, everyone watches their own anime. We all have different tastes, are in different episodes, and usually, we all do our own thing and then sometimes convene. But recently, due to the rise in popularity of Sakura Quest and the urgings of Miles Thomas (Crunchyroll Marketing Expert Extraordinaire), the majority of our club members have been enraptured by Shirobako!

Not quite everyone has finished up yet, but I'm happy to announce that for the most part that most of the Anime Society members int he Shirobako circle have finished up. It's pretty cool that we were all able to get into something at the same time, as for the most part of watching is pretty uncoordinated.

Now that we're all reaching the end of Shirobako, I hope that we can all get into another fandom together fairly soon. We have been streaming My Hero Academia at our meetings, so maybe we should all try to get into that one? I actually want to do an article on MHA pretty soon, it's really good and it deserves to get a little more attention from our admins.

Free Comic Book Day + Giveaway

FCBD 2017 ATTACK ON TITANAs many of you know, yesterday was Free Comic Book Day. Comic stores across the states had a stock of free and special comic samples for fans to pick up. Besides the fact people were getting free stuff and discounts on purchases, some of the comics had exclusive and special stories, just for the event. For example, Attack on Titan.

I recognized some of the people I bumped into as I popped into the various comic stores in the area, which was pretty cool. But I'm sure some of you missed the event (like I did last year). But never fear, your anime senpai is here!

For anyone who missed Free Comic Book Day, the Anime Society has a few extra copies that we would like to give away to anyone who is interested. Leave your full name and email and/or Twitter handle in the comments for this post below, and make sure you follow the Anime Society twitter (@slvanimesociety) with the same handle you provide. We will contact you asking which copy you wanted to get your hands on and couldn't, and we'll do what we can to get it to you.

We will ship to people in both the U.S. and Canada, so if you aren't a local member and want it mailed to you, keep in mind you'll need to give us your address.

Happy Sunday folks

Alice & Zoroku: The Validity of Feelings

"Up until that point, the girl didn’t know about the “outside world.” It was filled with things she had never touched, scenery she had never seen, and people she had never met... In the face of such a broad new world, she was surprised, wavered, and her eyes were opened on the impulse of curiosity. The girl’s name: Sana. She was born and raised at a facility called the “Laboratory” without ever knowing anything about the outside world. This girl has the special power to materialize anything she imagined. Those with special powers like Sana were called “Dreams of Alice.”

A new Simulcast series on Crunchyroll, this has caught so much attention, right from the first episode. It has the premise of a magical adventure bordering on action but also contains very tender and heartfelt moments.

Interviews with Monster Girls: Demi-Chan Special Event

On Ma 14th in Itabashi Culture Hall, the voice actors for the various characters of Interviews with Monster Girls will be hosting a musical celebration for the success of the series. To hype people up for this event, they have released new visual promotions and artwork. We see our favorite cute Demi-chans in some casual wear. Takanashi Hikari here in her casual school wear and her signature hair buns. It's always cute to see her little bag charm (modeled after a vampire of course). We also see in the background some gorgeous cherry blossom trees, which hold a lot of symbolism for her. If memory recalls correctly, it was in the last episode when she had a brief heart to heart with Takahashi-sensei. While doing that, it seemed that she had finally bloomed into being her true self, by the school gates and the cherry blossoms.

Attack on Titan: A Sincere Apology (Warning, Sarcasm)

The first season of Attack on Titan first aired in 2013. It's 2017 now. We have all literally waited for 4 years for Season Two. The question is, has it been worth the wait? Was it lived up to our expectations? And why were the creator sending out apology letters???

Clockwork Planet: Hit or Miss?

"This news may seem sudden... but this world died long ago. Earth died a thousand years ago, and a legendary clockmaker known only as "Y" rebuilt it using clockwork. Naoto Miura, a failing high school student, encounters RyuZU, an automaton that "Y" left behind, and the genius clock-maker Marie. When the abilities of these three come together, the gears of fate begin to turn. The cycle of failure and success repeats endlessly as the three of them work to repair the endangered "Clockwork Planet" in this clock-punk fantasy!"

A new title that has been added onto Crunchyroll, and is currently being Simulcast on Tuesdays. As of date, there are four episodes available for streaming, with an average user rating of 3.5 stars. The concept is really interesting, and it's by the creator of No Game No Life. The question is, is this new series a hit or a miss as a whole?
