BSD 19

Watching Bungo Stray Dogs, Season two episode 19. I have to admit Steinbeck's ability is super cool, although a little disturbing. The animation for it is very well done, I love it

Magical Girl Needs

After finishing all the episodes of Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, I've been craving those feel good anime with magical girls. So, I'm watching Flip Flappers, which is super duper good. The art is so beautiful, and while the plot is confusing if one doesn't read the description for the series, it's still really engaging and exciting. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and Hayao Miyazaki's work, it's just wonderful. And the use of color, just wow. It's very inconsistent, but in a pretty way

Finale! Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya

Image result for fate kaleid prisma illyaAh, at long last I worked up the courage to finish watching Fate/Kaleid Liner PRISMA ILLYA 3REI!!!, and I must admit it's hard knowing that there won't be more episodes coming out for a long time. But the ending was beautiful, and I look forward to another season someday. They really left it on a cliffhanger, with all the events surrounding Miyu and her brother shrouded in mystery, as well as what Julius Ainsworth's next move will be.

It wasn't until recently, AKA today when I finally watched the rest of the remianing episodes, that I spent the time to completely listen to the ending theme song and watch the end credits. I was pleasently surprised, the outro song was very upbeat and got me very excited for more from the Fate series. I couldn't help but notice at the end, there was a scene of Miyu and Illya standing on a snow covered hill, with their backs facing the camera, which I have added below.

Notice that Miyu is wearing the dress that the Ainsworth's provided her, basically it was the stylish prison outfit they gave her while they kept her confined. She wore this the entire time she was kept under their care as a tool, and the Holy Grail. While under their care, and wearing that dress, Miyu believed that it was her fate to be the Holy Grail, and die for the sake of saving the world she lived in. She never questioned it, just accepted the fact that her fate couldn't be changed, she would have to die for the sake of the many.

Now for what Illyasveil is wearing, it the purple sweater type outfit that appears in 3wei once or twice. But more importantly, that is the main outfit that she wore in the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works anime series. In the UBW route, Illya summons Berserker, and ends up dying while in a battle against Gilgamesh in the Holy Grail War. She is a homunculi, her only purpose was to be a master in the Grail War and bring honor to the Einzbern name, as well as act as a vessel for summoning the holy Grail. Her entire existence, as well as her mothers, was just for summoning the Grail. They were disposable tools in the end, and if they failed at their task, they were useless to the Einzberns. They weren't even really people, they were in a way advanced golumns created by magi. Illya died, in an inescapable fate, knowing that she was just a tool, and didn't try to fight it.

I believe that this last, final scene in the series is showing the two previous versions of Miyu and Illya, when they were trapped by a fate that they believed couldn't be changed. It's who they were before they met each other, when they had nothing, no hopes and dreams of their own. One of the unique features of the entire Type-Moon and Fate series is that there are multiple routes and versions to different stories. For example there's Fate/Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heavens Feel. And Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is no exception, it's an alternative route to a normal ending where Illya and Miyu wouldn't have gotten to live on.

Image result for fate kaleid prisma illyaPrisma Illya, the entire series is based on a reality where Miyu and Illya met, and they were able to obtain happiness and move beyond what they assumed was their predetermined fate. The last scene is showing who they were, and the destiny that could have been shoved on to them, while the series is about them defying that and taking their future into their own hands.

Image result for illya and miyu anime episode 12This has been such a wonderful series, and a refreshing change from the normal grind of anime. While it does contain minor amounts of blood and a heavy, emotional plot line like the rest of the fate series, it does not contain that complete tragic tone. It's the alternate good end, and while it is a roller coaster and is incredibly in depth, it focuses less of the hopeless tone and loss. It gives more thought to the pure sensation of friendship and youth, and the joy it can bring.

Pokemon Fire Red

I've spent the last 48 hours playing Pokemon Fire Red, and I'm seriously way too into this. My Charmander is way too strong and I keep thinking about all the Red manga and lore that goes with the game. This game.... everyone is playing it right now, but I'm pretty sure I left them in the dust.

Bungo Stray Dogs

Image result for bungou stray dogsThere are those who are normal in the world, and then there are the elite few who are born with special abilities, or gifts. Nakajima Atsushi has been kicked out of his orphanage, and is now on the streets starving to death. As he laments his own inability to steal in order to survive, Atsushi finds himself saving the life of suicidal manic Osamu Dazai, who is attempting to drown himself in the river. The cheerful Dazai and his strict partner Kunakida Doppo are members of the elusive Armed Detective Agency, with ability wielding employees that handle grey zone investigations the police aren't able to touch. He's then swept along lands in a deep investigation about a man-eating tiger that his roaming the streets.

A truly wonderful series, with a very engaging plot line. It mixed in action and adventure with a twist of fantasy, all while keeping a sense of excitement and humor. The manga is very good, with beautiful and elegant artwork, and the ability scenes for the anime are very well animated. The voices chosen are also pleasant, although Atsushi's voice could have been more suited to him. One of the best parts about this series is that it's very similar to Black Butler in the sense that the anime arcs are different from the original manga. In the big picture they're accurate and the same, but the anime includes a fun mini arc about Dazai's time in the Port Mafia, along with a unique opening sequence.

A fun fact about the series, all of the characters are based off of actual authors, thus the series name which translates into 'Literary Stray Dogs.' It's obvious that the creator has a lot of respect for literature, it really comes through in his work. The abilities of the characters are also named after the work their respective author wrote. This show is beautiful, a blend of a lot of different genres that typically aren;t mixed into such an awe-inspiring show.

Bungo Stray Dogs - Episode 16

I saw a few spoilers on Twitter and Tumblr by accident, so I have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen. But that doesn't stop me from getting really excited about Episode 16 of my favorite series, Bungo Stray Dogs! For those of you who aren't familiar with the series, keep an eye out for our review on the series coming out. I highly recommend it. The manga is very, very good, and surprisingly different from the anime, or at least in part of season two. It's like Black Butler, with an animated arc separate from the original work. But to get back to the topic at hand, super excited for season two! I'm eagerly watching it whenever I have free time (which I very rarely do... the hectic life of a hardworking otaku), and I'm very pleased that Crunchyroll is streaming this series.

Also, side note, keep an eye out for more updates on our website! Almost all of our anime descriptions have been updated and improved, with links to sites where you can watch or read the series.

And a little spoiler, eventually in the future, our website will be including products and merchandise, as well as some giveaway contests. In the near future we will also be posting more about our Otaku Outreach Program.

Hey Hey Hey! (matinance, Otaku Outreach, meetings)

Hey hey hey fellow anime lovers. Just a little note with some updates about what's going on with the club, as well as our website.

Image result for bokuto haikyuu hey hey heyTo start off with, I hope everyone had an awesome, safe Halloween. I know I had a ton of fun, cosplayed as Misa Amane from Death Note, almost broke a leg running in the dark. You know, typical Halloween stuff.

Now, I know that I have been a little... sketchy (inconsistent?) with the club meetings. I was out with what felt like the plague for about two weeks, and since then have been drowning in paperwork and projects. But hey, so is every other high school student. I'm home today sick (again), but next week we will be resuming our weekly meetings, and streaming One Punch Man (I think).

Also, today I'll be majorly renovating the website. I was looking back on some of my old anime descriptions (yes I did all/most of them) and they're a little... mm... cringe-worthy. So I'm going back to update as many as I can, as well as update our anime list.

The most important thing, is that we have finally started our Otaku Outreach program! It's been a quiet project that I have been working on, but I'm finally putting things in to place. We'll be reaching out to other Anime/Cosplay groups in our area, so we can all be more connected. I believe that we can make our hobby a more fulfilling if we experience with others.
